Bulletin June 2011









Heartiest Congratulations to you for the success of the Bakat Interact on yesterday 25 June, 2011. I truly enjoyed the fantastic performances by the Interactors and amazed the huge attendance. Well Done!

Rotarian Rizal, you have been very active and done a marvelous job as the New Generation Chairman for the current Rotary Year in organising the Interact training programme, IU Bazaar and Bakat Interact, just to name a few, which I was given an opportunity to be part of these activities. I commend your dedication , commitment and contribution for these significant achievements and wish to congratulate you and your committee members for all the successes you all have achieved. Please keep up the good work.

Career Talk on 22/6/2011
SMK All Saints Interact Club had successfully organized a career talk for 300 higher class students at the School. The speakers for the career talk were PP Datuk Vincent Pung on the satisfaction and the scarcity of job opportunity, Rotarian Mike Alford shared on the potential of oil and gas industries, Rotarian Jeyan shared on the ethnic and joy of working especially as a lawyer, Rotarian Rizal Shared about the diversity in archetecture career and Rotarian Iskandar shared the attitude toward choosing a career..



Spouse appreciation night with guest speaker Miss Doris Lim, an image consultant. Anna presented a token of appreciation to Margaret Chen and Pauline Lo for their support and assistance to organize the spouse program for this year. She also thank all the spouses for their participation and wished every one well.



Club Meeting on 20/6/2011
President welcome guest from Ministry of youth and sport, Rtn Lawrence's son, visiting Rotarians from Australia and our assistant governor PP Phillip Chong. We had PP John Lo as sergeant at arm. Our fellowship singing led by PP Christopher Liew and Rtn Kevin Lim was wonderful but slightly out of tune " green green grass of home " Rtn Ian from Rotary Club of Phillip island introduced his club and the beautiful island is stay and later exchanged bannerette with RCKK.
Our guest speaker was Datuk Susana Liew who shared with the members about the youth program in Sabah. The fining session by PP John Lo was humourious and full of laughter. Everyone was fined... PP John gave a word of thank to President for his term in office. President thank all the Rotarians for their contribution and participation. Last President announced and introduced his successor PE Lawrence Thien and perform a ceremonial handover of office duty.
The sunshine collection for this RM587 and the attendant is 93.57 percent.











Jazz Festival on 18-19/6/2011 was a huge success in entertainment and participant both performers and audiences. The atmosphere was great to gather with the food and drink. It was indeed a fun filled festival in KK.













Joint Board Meeting 11/6/2011
The out going board and in coming board had the joint meeting to discuss on the transition matter and wishing each other well in their undertaking in Rotary. President Alfred handover the BOD chairman role to in coming President Rtn Lawrence Thien.



Club meeting on 6/6/2011
The meeting today began with National anthem followed by the acting sergeant at arm PP Robert Lai introducing the visiting rotarian Ag Phillip Chong from RC Likas Bay and PP Yung from RC Petaling Jaya. Rotarian Danny Wong led in fellowship singing " Let it be " " the voice is acceptable though a bit rusty " guess he will has a lot of practice when he becomes the club director next term. We had a wonderful lunch com wonderful birthday boys and wedding anniversary celebration with Rotarian Edward Tan on the dot of his wedding anniverdsary . Since not being meeting for two weeks where were many annoucements. With President wished the Kadasan and Murut member a very happy keaamatan and lot of " Aramaiti ".
First annoucement was by Ag PP Phillip Chong congragulated our club for getting distinction in Rotary International Presidetial Citation and alse annouced the up coming inter clubs meeting on the 30th of June Tentatively at Pacific Sutera resort at 6.00pm with Datuk Raymond Tan as guest speaker on Oil and Gas industries in Sabah. Vice president Rotarian Jack Ong invited memberf to join the pre Jazz jaming with lot of beer for the early bird on this coming Friday and Saturday. Rotarian Danny remind all members to furnish new photo for the club directory. Rotarian Edward Tan Reminded the member to assist in collect sponsor for the installation sourvenior program and also the attendent for the installation night. Rotarian Soon encouraged the member to participate in the Avoidable blindness in Ranua on 3/7/2011. Lastly Rotarian Rizal, Director of new generation service annouce the grand bakat competition to be held at Yayasan Sabah Auditarium on 26/6/2011.
The fining session was carried up by PP Robert Lai, all about those related to number 6 would have to be fined. Attendent for this week was 82.59 percent and the sun shine collection was RM167.00.

Club Meeting on 23/5/2011
New Rotarian did really bring new mood to the meeting with Rotarian Grant led the song " walk sing Matilda " after Sargent at arm introduced the Rotarian guests from Rotary Club of Kinabalu Sutera. We had Japanese buffet lunch followed by announcements and sharing by New Rotarian on the fire side meeting. Vice President Jack Ong announced the JAZZ festival prelude events of local talent search and encourage member from the club to join the event for fun and fellowship. Our club recognized the contribution of eye checking project carried out through joint project between RC Kinabalu Sutera and RC KK. All together the projects had screened through 15000 students and benefited about 1500 students who received tailored make glasses. Our Club gave two plates of service above self to President Ian Thow and PP Dr. Bakar. Incoming installation advertisement form had been distributed to the member, for those who want to sponsor or friend who want to sponsor please contact Rotarian Jack Lo for the form. Lastly President announced there will be no meeting on the 30/5/2011 and wishing all the member a happy harvest festival holiday. Club attendant 72.34 percent and sun shine collection RM133

Club Meeting on 9/5/2011
Greeting to PDG Edward Sung, AG Phillip Chong, PP Victor Chong, PP Yung, Datin AminaEmbrose and fellow Rotarians by President Alfred. After National anthem, Rtn Alex Sham andRtn Rizal led the fellowship singing " Hey Jude " sounded very raw, everyone had a good laugh over the singing. We had Hainan Chicken rice for lunch. During lunch, all the birthday boys and wedding anniversary Rotarians came up to celebrate the occasion of cake cutting. Rtn Paul Thienand Rtn Jack Lo presented a very interesting report on Korea trip. Rtn Mike Alford reported on the balling inter clubs game at sutera on 29/4 only two Rotarians from our club turned up. RtnChiang Wei Chia reported on the hostel project at Kiulu done during IPP Frankie Fu's year. RtnIskandar invited and thank Datin Aminah Embrose for helping during the medical camp inBanggi Island. PP Victor Chong promote the charity golf fund raising for RC Likas Bay. AG Phillip promote the Rotary Leadership institute to the member on 21st of May at SGCC . President announced that all the up coming events will be post in the blog. IPP Frankie acting Surgeont at arms fined the late comers, birthday boys and song leader of the week.

Mother day gathering on 7/5/2011
We had a casual mother day fellowship at Kinabalu yacht club. Rtn Chiang Wei Chia's lamb was the best pot luck, so tender and juicy. We had a wonderful evening fellowship over different food prepared by everyone . And having good beer over the sunset made the night unforgettable. Happy mother day to all the Rotarian spouse.
